Challenged Books Videos: An Overview

DEI is supposed to be gone, but take a look at these two series of challenged books found in the public school libraries of Escambia and Santa Rosa County (Elementary, Middle, and High Schools). Additionally, the MARC reports do not disclose alternate sexualities for parental consent, raising concerns about library content.

"The REvolution of Birdie Randolph" and "Forever"

Here are two challenged books that are currently in our local high schools. Both feature sexually explicit content and entire sex scenes, raising concerns about their appropriateness for students. These book reviews highlight the ongoing debate over library content in educational settings.

"Sunny Side Up" by Jennifer Holm

Check out this video featuring book reviews of a challenged book found in elementary and middle schools. Although not sexual in nature, this library content addresses mature themes such as drinking and smoking addictions and lying.

Why we don't trust Librarians

Many librarians cannot be trusted when it comes to managing challenged books. Two of these titles, "The Queen of Nothing" and "Today, Tonight and Tomorrow," were initially pulled for review but were placed BACK on the shelves. It wasn't until a Reconsideration Form was submitted a year and a half later that they were finally removed. Additionally, the third book, "Door by Door," which focuses on Sarah McBride, has been found in a primary school, completely violating DEI laws, raising concerns about the appropriateness of library content.

Review committees waste time

The book reviews for 'Darius the Great Deserves Better' have shown it successfully passed through a Review Committee for high school. Interestingly, the committee even opted to include it as part of the library content for middle school. Go figure!

The First to Die at the End, by Adam Silvera

One section alone disqualifies this book from being appropriate for public school minor children, as highlighted in various book reviews discussing challenged books within library content.

"Ignite Me," by Mafi and "Everything, Everything," by Yoon

District librarians are pulling "Ignite Me" for book reviews before putting it back on the shelves! Meanwhile, "Everything, Everything" is set to go before a Review Committee, as it has been identified among the challenged books due to violations of the law.

Diary of a Confused Feminist by Kate Weston

This book, released in 2024, is a part of the challenged books category. It follows a 15-year-old girl who recounts what she claims are 'hilarious' experiences regarding male/female relationships and beliefs. However, it contains abhorrent discussions and extreme profanity, which have sparked numerous book reviews and debates about its suitability for library content.

"What's the T"; "A QuicK & and Easy Guide to They/Them"

Explore these book reviews of two challenged books found in our local middle and high schools. These books include inappropriate drawings, discussions, and links to unvetted outside resources within the library content.

"Thirteen plus One" and "Many Waters"

Here are two elementary books that have been reviewed in Florida schools as part of discussions around challenged books. Both are considered age and content-inappropriate, featuring discussions that are not suitable for young readers throughout the library content.

"Going Bovine" and "The Namesake"

Explore these book reviews of two challenged books found in public school libraries. Both titles feature extreme sexual acts, including penetration, raising questions about library content.

I am not your perfect mexican daughter/10Things I Can See

Two Florida Review Committees voted to keep these challenged books, even though both contain inappropriate sexual/prurient content. What do these book reviews reveal about the decisions made?

These two challenged books were discovered in primary and elementary schools as well as high schools across Escambia and Santa Rosa County, Florida. Be sure to check out the book reviews and the library content.

"The Comeback" and "Yes, Please"

"The Comeback" by E.L. Shen and "Yes, Please" by Amy Poehler were found in local elementary, middle, and high schools, highlighting the ongoing discussions around challenged books in our libraries. As we explore book reviews, we might also consider how to provide sex tips for your kids.

Escambia County School Board Leads the Way in ReMOVING FILTH

Get insights into what transpired at the June 2025 Board meeting in Escambia County, FL. I also discuss a book titled "Maestros," featured in my book reviews on challenged books found in Escambia County. Additionally, Santa Rosa County, FL is mentioned as well.

"At the Edge of the Universe" & "Romeo and/or Juliet"

Two sexually explicit books have been recently challenged in Escambia County and Santa Rosa County Schools, raising discussions about library content and the appropriateness of certain materials. One notable title is "AT THE EDGE OF THE UNIVERSE" by Shaun D. Hutchinson, which features graphic pictures. Another is "ROMEO AND/OR JULIET: A CHOOSEABLE PATH ADVENTURE" by Ryan North. These book reviews highlight the ongoing debate surrounding challenged books in educational settings.

Kingdom of the CUrsed

Watch this video to discover book reviews for a title called KINGDOM OF THE CURSED. This challenged book has been found at various locations including Tate, Escambia, West Florida, Pace, and Navarre. It features scenes involving BDSM, orgies, and entire sex acts, making it a noteworthy addition to library content discussions.

"Smile" by Raina Telgemeier

Hundreds of copies of this book have been found in both elementary and middle schools locally, leading to numerous book reviews highlighting its themes. This book explores middle-school crushes, the desire to play spin the bottle and then kiss, and attempts to dress as the latest crush wishes—often described by friends as including fishnet hose and high heels. Given its content, many are questioning whether this is age-appropriate for elementary students, especially as it’s often categorized among challenged books in library content discussions.

Black Bird Manga Series

Let's take a closer look at Vol. 8 and Vol. 9 in the Black Bird Manga Series, which can be found in Escambia County, FL. This series has faced challenges and is often included in discussions about challenged books. Notably, this book features graphic pictures depicting a 29-losing-of-virginity scene in Chapter 32, which has raised concerns regarding library content and compliance with regulations (Violation of 847).

"Deadline" by Chris Crutcher

This book has been found in middle and high schools in Santa Rosa and Escambia County, Florida school districts. The book has been the subject of several book reviews due to its discussions of casual sex (complete acts), inappropriate language, and troubling themes, including the desires of a grown man with a 13-year-old boy, which ultimately leads to the suicide of both. This has resulted in it being categorized among challenged books in library content discussions. Go back to menu and click on More Videos on Books, Page 3.
